Choose how you want to solve

Each ZIP contains ten PDFs. Every PDF has three A4 pages showing the same puzzle: clues only, clues with starting pencil marks, and the solution. Print page 1 for a traditional puzzle, or page 2 if you want to practise eliminating candidates. Keep page 3 aside until you want to check your work.

The large grid leaves room for handwriting. Choose A4 paper and your printer’s “Fit to page” option if necessary. For a booklet without answers, select just the first or second page of each PDF in the print dialog.

Starting pencil marks show every digit allowed by the original clues. They do not update on paper: after entering a number, cross it out of the other cells in its row, column and box. In X Sudoku, also update any diagonal it belongs to.

Use the usual rows, columns and boxes. This collection mixes Easy, Medium and Hard puzzles. The labels estimate solving effort; they are not determined by clue count alone.

A good first session

Start with an Easy puzzle and look for the fullest rows, columns and boxes. If you use the candidate version, first find cells with one remaining mark. Then search each group for a digit that appears in only one candidate list. Our illustrated examples show the difference.

These are reusable sample collections, not a new pack on every visit. For different puzzles, a chosen difficulty or different print formats, open the custom pack maker. The custom maker loads the game; the downloads above do not.
